A adventurous trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

“TRISTAN”, exclaims mom! “Are you packed, our plane leaves in 30 minutes!”

”Coming,” I called.

Gosh, mom can be demanding at times. I mean, I’m only 12, and she expects me to be packed, showered, and decent looking, for a trip that I don’t even want to go on! I understand we have to be ready for the plane, but seriously, she could have scheduled a later flight.

Mom stomps into my room, “ Tristan we have to go!”

“Okay, okay, I’m ready” I screamed!

Well, we finally got in the car - a little late, which worried mom. Oh, and if you’re wondering why dad’s not coming, it’s because my parents got divorced a year ago. Yes, it was a little hard on me, but I understand it was the best for them.

“Mom, calm down we are only 10 minutes behind schedule.”

We finally arrived at the airport, and mom was still freaking out! I told her I would meet her on the plane, while she checked the luggage. The plane was farther than I thought, and seeing all those food stands made me hungry.

“ Oh well,” I sighed.

I finally got to the plane and found two empty seats. I waited for about 10 minutes, until the pilot instructed, “everyone buckle your seat belts.”

“OH NO,” I thought. “ MOM, is not here yet”!

“ NO, don’t leave my mom is …” It was too late the plane had taken off.

I sat in agony, thinking of all the things that could happen to me on a vacation alone. Then I found there could also be some plus side to being on vacation all by myself. However, there were just too many negative points to ease my worries. All of a sudden we heard a loud BOOM….. I found out that the engine had given up, and the loud BOOM, was because we had landed. However, we landed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which was not our intended destination.  I started crying because I just couldn’t take it anymore. I said to myself, Don’t worry Tristan you will be fine. You will get on the next plane back home, and everything will be fine. Wow, fine was a word I hadn’t heard in a while. The sound of the word fine made me feel good. Good, there’s another word that was soothing. Maybe this trip isn’t going to be so bad after all.

I got inside the airport, and went to see the flight schedule with my fingers crossed that there was a plane back to New Jersey ( Where I lived). I saw the word New Jersey.

“YES!” I screamed. I kept reading to the right…. “ NO!” I complained. The only plane back home was tomorrow at 3:00 AM. What am I going to do? I thought to myself.

I had no clue what to do next, but I knew whatever I was going to do it had to be fast. I decided I would go to the front desk, and maybe they could help me. I got there, and the lady said, in a very angered voice,

“Hey kid, where are your parents!”

I whimper back knowing that I would have to lie,” Over there”, Somewhere, I said to myself.

“Whatever little kid, what do you want, a coloring book? Here you go, take it and go color.”

Well, I whispered to myself, she was a no help. So far, this had been a miserable day, and it just kept getting worse. I decided I would wait on the seats until someone offered me something, or maybe I would fall asleep, and wake up tomorrow, and start fresh. That’s exactly what I did.

I woke up to a surprising, but familiar noise,“Tristan,Tristan,Tristan!”

“What,” I said to myself. I realized that mom was calling me, and for once I felt the biggest excitement of my life to hear her voice. I had been dreaming, all along!
