Restaurant essay

Restaurant in Olbia

I chose a restaurant as my building to study  and build because I’ve always been so fascinated with Restaurant layouts, blue prints, and designs. I’ve always payed close attention to restaurants interior designs, and even the layouts. My parents are architects, and they design houses, and I have always thought that seemed really interesting, and fun. Then I decided I’d’ take it a step further, I’ll design a restaurant! I found housing interesting, but in a way boring, and I was looking for a challenge so I decided I would do something new which was restaurants. We think of a restaurant as a place to eat, but there’s much more to a restaurant then that. A restaurant is a way to interact with new people, relax from your stressful day without having to cook. A restaurant is a place to sit down with family/freinds, or even new people you have just met, and just talk and enjoy your meal, a restaurant is a place for many more things than dining.

There are many different ways of trade, and they keep getting more, and more efficient. Until 500 BC Athenians did most of their trade by barter, which is exchanging one type of product for another such as, one could trade grains for a clothing piece, etc.  In 600 BC  barter became a inconvenient way of trading.  A few years later the government began to make Silver coins, which is when people were willing to trade goods for silver coins. Later, the barter system was overruled which is when the use of trading any coins for any product came in. There are many different ways of trade as well as different products sold, and needed throughout tribes, clubs, civilizations, etc.
There are many advanced technologies, which gives us an advantage of building sturdier, more efficient, buildings. I was thinking of making  my markets, commercial building, restaurants , Etc. , “Green”, meaning using as little energy as needed. That would be one solution, to wasting energy, light fixture bills, saving money, etc. The egyptians markets were very different from today, for example they payed with goods, mostly only rich people went to markets back then because most egyptians couldn’t afford to shop at the market, so they cooked, their own food. In the market they also had cloth merchants which sold high quality linen goods. Today, we obviously have far more advanced forms of marketing, and many more sophisticated solutions to our marketing, and consumer needs.
Nowadays, humans, and advanced technologies have mad a huge difference in markets, commercial building, restaurants, and trading systems (or today referred to as consumer needs)! Today, markets are more efficient by stocking up of more food, clothing, and toys that you wouldn’t have the opportunity to by a long time ago. Advanced technologies have made buying, and selling stuff so much quicker, and easier. Trade has become so much more efficient, quicker, and obviously easier. Each state or country uses their own code, which sounds difficult, but is much more organized, and efficient! Advanced technologies, and people striving to make a difference, have not only made a difference in commercial building, but also in our daily life!

Believe it or not restaurants serve many purposes, but obviously the one we know the best is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Restaurants can also host Birthday parties, bar/bot mitzvah, Business meetings, anniversary’s, but we know them as a place for dining. Waiters, chef’s, managers, and costumers are what makes a restaurant active. The time of the day, month, or year doesn’t really change the activities going on in a restaurant, but all restaurants are different, for example McDonald’s is open 24/7, but a more proper restaurant would have restaurant hours. Why aren’t all restaurants open 24/7, you might ask? Most restaurants aren’t open 24/7 because they need time to set up their tables, chairs, lights, silverware, etc. Another supply proper restaurants have is  furniture to sit down, and rest while waiting to be served. There are obviously many more functions to a restaurant then you would think, but it really depends on what type of restaurant you want to build.

There are many different parts to a restaurant, some required, and some not, but every restaurant is basically how the architect/designer wants to set it up. There are many different ways to plan out how you’re  going to build, and design your restaurant such as, blue prints, layouts, etc.

Above is a example of an exquisite restaurant blueprint

To start a restaurant you need the bare minimum supplies such as, Customer Service Area,Kitchen area, Office, personal staff area, bar (optional), employee restroom, public restroom, dining area, etc. It is optional to have furniture but it would make the interior design look more proper, and fancy.

Deliziousa ( my restaurant

The restaurant idea is making my restaurant completely “Green.” Here are some ways to make your restaurant green? There are many different ways, but here are a few ideas I’ve thought were great ways to “Help” the environment. Purchasing energy efficient cooking equipment, Turn on all electric appliances sequentially meaning at different times, install light sensitive dimmers that automatically dim when the light outside is strong enough. There are obviously many ways to make your restaurant “Green” which is an excellent idea for helping the environment, And I will definitely take these alternatives into consideration.

There’s going to be multiple locations to my restaurant, such as Downtown Olbia, In residential areas, by shopping malls, and commercial buildings. The restaurant would be located to where one would have an amazing ocean view, which makes my restaurant even more worthwhile! The restaurant in the residential are will be placed their so people won’t have to drive very far to get high quality food. Then the restaurant in the shopping malls will be located there because if you’re shopping, and you get hungry you can eat at my delicious restaurant. The restaurant located by commercial building will be placed there because  there will probably be a lot of people around there so there is more of a chance that many people will go to this gourmet restaurant . There is obviously, many locations where this building would fit in, and many reasons for each.

For my restaurant the products, and materials used to build my restaurant are going to be all energy efficient. My goal is to promote environmentally friendly aspects to every part of the restaurant for two reasons. My first reason is by suggesting energy efficient equipment, and materials I am going to try to inspire people to start using “Green” materials themselves too. My other reason is making my restaurant “Green” will save energy, and help out the environment.

The restaurant will have a plan for water conservation which should consider plumbing modifications, and landscaping. By doing this we will have to perform preventative maintenance to stop drips, and leaks. I will also have a energy conservation plan which encourages replacement of lighting, and equipment to energy efficient alternatives. Next I will have a plan for Grease recycling, which is where everyone helps out to recycle grease, and/or use a grease filter. This will filter grease to prolong usefulness, and greatly reduce waste, and cost as well! By reaching my goal of making my restaurant “green” this will not only save me money, but help the environment as well.

Building a restaurant is a long process which takes about a year and 6 months to construct. There is a lot of machinery involved such as bulldozers, cranes, tractors Etc. When the building no longer served the same function I would take it down and start a new business. The building would last about two years because I’m planning on making it very sturdy, and hoping for the best that It’s as energy efficient as possible. When the building is no longer usable the building materials will be recycled, not gone to waste (as most people decide to do). My goal for the methods of construction to be as earth friendly as possible, and since I’m going to start from scratch I have a wonderful opportunity in making a difference in Olbia.

Below are a few very Unique, some weird/ interesting, and NEW restaurants !

Heres a “Funny” Looking restaurant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan where you sit on toilets while you eat, and you eat out of toilet shaped bowls. This is an example of a very unique, as well, as a humorous restaurant idea.

Heres another restaurant in Belgium which serves dinner up to 22 people 150 feet in the air. The chairs, and tables are lifted by a crane. Remember you must wear your seat belt, and not drop your fork .

This is a very unique underwater restaurant.

“ Hopefully my restaurant will be just as Unique, and interesting as these are”
