Documentary Reflection

Making a documentary, on a certain topic, in a group, was a new experience, that taught me a lot. Not only did my group learn facts about our topic, the huns, but we learned how to work as a team, while staying on task, managing our time wisely, and working on our project on our own, at home, to get it done. One thing that I learned from this eperience, is that there is no time to lack off. It all has to be down to bussiness. Another big factor in making a successful documentary, is not pushing all your work to the end, because in the end it is not going to be what you were aiming for.Another new thing for me was working in a group for such a long project. I enjoyed working in a group to make our project about the Huns, because you can work together, you dont have to feel like you are all alone. Although, there were many plus sides to working in a group, there were some negatives. I learned that everyone needs to be working to their best ability because, it takes your whole group to be on task, and paying attention toget your project done, and make it the best you can make it.Overall, I think my group cooperated well, because my group knew what we needed to get done, and when are deadline is, and we went to all extremes to meet our expectations.

There are many things I could improve on, for the next documentary. I think I could stayed on task more next time meaning not getting of topic, and I also could have worked on it some more at home. I could have recorded so the next day my group, and I wouldnt have to do as much work. Another important factor for staying on task is enjoying writing about the topic you were assigned to. At first, the Huns rather bored me, but that was before I learned how much they did, how the succeeded, what they used in war, and much more. Towards the end of the documentary I knew a lot about The Huns, and I actually enjoyed learning about them.

I am very happy with our finished product, because we worked to the best of our ability, and got off task VERY few times. I learned a lot about the Hun’s and would be very excited to make another documentary in a group another time.

Overall, Making this documentary taught me a lot of skills I can improve on when making my next one, as well as taught me a lot on a topic I wasnt even intrested in learning about. In the end, I loved learning all the amazing things the Hun’s did and hope to make another documentary in the future!

La Jollan starts meals program for destitute

People have taken notice, as well as amid, that a La Jolla woman (Souza) has started a biweekly program to feed those in need, by a weekly church in La jolla. Souza remarks, ” This is for people down and out in these tough times, not necessarily the homeless.” “It’s for people who’ve maybe gotten pink slips or pay cuts, anybody who needs food in their stomach.” Souza also shared, that she feels motivated to feed those in need for many reasons including, Setting an example for her children. Earl Van Inwegen, the new town council president, had many things to say about this, but the main idea was that there are pros and cons to this situation. The pro is this wounderful women is trying to support and help with all her ability to these people in need, which is a great deed, but on the other side, as Earl says there is a Con. Earl comments, “If you’re offering food at a kitchen or something like that, citizens are concerned about the possibility of homeless congregating and spending more time here.”

I chose this article because I see Souza as a hero. I mean, yes there is that possibility of more homeless coming here, but she is doing a great dead. On the other hand, I see Earls point. I think that Souza, motivating herself to do great things is amaizng , and I hope more people in the world learn from her and start to help, like she does!

CSL Bordertown News

On May 15, in TJ, 4 U.s citizens were found dead. The bodies of the 2 men, and 2 women were reported to have signs of violence, noted in the killing. The bodies were covered in blankets, and had several wounds, although, their identities were not confirmed until Thursday. All were U.S. citizens and Southern California residents, but the consulate spokesman declined to give specific hometowns or say how long the four had been in Tijuana.  Seven police officers were killed in a 1 day of brazen attacks 2 weeks ago in Tijuana, once one of Mexico’s most dangerous, and violent border cities.

CSL Homelessness and Poverty atricle

Many communities think that the best way to treat the homeless is to get rid of them by, “throwing them in jail” For all those heartless people that think we can do that, we have news for you, that is what we have been doing. Earlier this week, The Sentinel’s Bianca Prieto have reported the 10 most frequently arrested men in Orange County are mostly all homeless. In the past 10 years each of them have been arrested 54-124 times, for varias different “crimes”. Obviosly, as many poeple have realized arresting the Homeless hasnt solved the problem. Homeless advocates have decided that the approach this ongoing problem is to end this cycle of poverty, by job-training, drug treatment and help for mental illness. This approach would waste less money, as well as help the homeless out in many different, and more fair ways. In my opinion, this is a much more semnsible, and fair way to deal with the homeless, because people need to realize that they are people just like us who deserve a second shot at a nice life!

We are done with our story board, and I would say we are ready to start filming. I think our group was very productive during this whole experience!

The Huns documentary

I went through varias steps while completing The Huns documentary. First Tobin,Timmy, and I decided how many paragraphs we are going to include. Next, We decided what our paragraph topics were going to be, we decided on Who the Huns were/How they conquered for our first paragraph, Atilla the Hun for our second, and finally, the Huns Empire as our third. Next, we gathered information for each topic, and categorized the information. We made sure we had extra information to include as much detail as possible. We then, put all the information together and made our report. We edited it and put it into a documentary, then put all our edits together and came up with a final report. Lastly, we searched for pictures to put into our documentary. We are almost finished, we just need a few more pictures and to touch a few things up. This whole process was very fun, as well as educational. During the process we learned how to manage our time wisely, Pick out the most inportant and interesting facts, and leave the more dull ones, to make for a more interesting and detailed report!
